Our Team
Kathryn “Katie” Fenske, CNM
Hello and welcome to Nueva Vida Healthcare! My name is Katie Fenske and I am a Certified Nurse Midwife. I was born and raised in Downers Grove, Illinois. I am an aunt to three handsome nephews, and they are the light of my life. It is one of my greatest joys to be a part of their life and I enjoy all the many adventures that they take me on. They are what brought me to where I currently live, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Prior to moving to IF, I earned my Bachelors of Science in Community Health Education and Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010. I then went on to earn my Masters of Science in Nursing Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, specializing in Midwifery in 2014.
I was a labor and delivery nurse for almost eight years, until I finally got the opportunity to work as a Certified Nurse Midwife. I love delivering babies, helping expectant mothers through their pregnancies, and taking care of women throughout their lifespan. I also enjoy the many other aspects of the medical field and take any opportunity I can to expand my medical knowledge. That desire to learn more brought me to expanding my knowledge by further educating myself on the medical weight loss field and all it has to offer.
I have always struggled with my weight throughout my life and have tried many different fad diets and exercise programs. I have also had many reasons and excuses not to get healthy. However, wanting to be more active, keeping up with my nephews, and wanting to have a child of my own one day were the driving factors for me to get my health on the right track. Although my weight isn’t where I want it to be quite yet, semeglutide has given me a second chance and has improved my life greatly. My confidence is growing while my pants size is shrinking; and I want to give other men and women the opportunity to get their health and weight back on track.
Bonnie Rivas, CNM, WHNP-BC
A healthier new you with the ability to embrace life was my personal goal and what eventually became the name of our practice. My name is Bonnie Rivas. I was born in Rhode Island and moved all over the country as a child of a military parent. I met my spouse in RI and moved to Idaho to attend Brigham Young University-Idaho majoring in Nursing. Following graduation, I worked in Labor and Delivery for 15 years. I then went on to further my education through Frontier Nursing University and graduated with a master’s degree as a Certified Nurse Midwife and a post master’s degree as a Women’s health Nurse practitioner. I have been practicing since 2021 in this field and have found great joy in empowering women to take charge of their own health and bodies. My husband and four beautiful children supported me in my passion to further my education.
As a family we love to explore Idaho and the world with hiking, biking, kayaking and snowmobiling. I found that it was becoming more difficult to do the things I loved and began to look for a way to become healthier. I was considering surgical options when I was introduced to medical weight loss options by a fellow colleague. She was having success with Semaglutide, so I decided to give it a try. Although I have not achieved my goal, I have lost 80 lbs. and have noticed improved energy and an ability to better meet the needs of my family and patients. I had a Nueva Vida and I decided to share this with others and thus was born a new health program.
